[espro-slider id=3183]

On Wednesday 19th October we entered the 16th Annual West Wicklow Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country in Valleymount. We had twelve races on the day. We brought 48 children in total from 1st to 6th class. Six teams of boys and 6 teams of girls.

All our teams competed extremely well and most won team medals.  The medal presentation ceremony took place in St. Josephs N.S. Valleymount. Many thanks to Ms. Nora Kelly, Principal, Her staff and volunteers who ensured the day ran smoothly. A special mention to Mr. Tommy Brennan, who presented the medals to all the schools.   Thanks to Mr. Collier who collated all the results for our teams on the day.

Joshua’s Poem

This is a poem about how I love my school,
The staff and all the things we do are really cool.
There are more good schools in other towns and streets,
But I think my school is totally unique.

Our classrooms are full of decorations and other pretty things too,
And no one ever gets bored because there are lots of things to do.
We all work hard and we never give up,
And everyone here is always on top.

When anyone new comes in we treat them with respect,
We also tell them all the rules, because that’s what they expect.

On the school yard there is lots to do and play,
There is even board games on the wall that we play with every day.
With the money if I won I would spend it on my school,
But nothing very expensive, like a new swimming pool.

I would buy more sports equipment like rackets, balls and hurls,
And soft dodgeballs for the little boys and girls.
I would buy more surfaces and new laptops would be fine,
And if I was do that, two classes could use them at the same time.

I would buy bigger goals and footballs so we can play all sorts of sports,
And new basketball nets for the basketball courts.
So if you put me on the list I would be extremely excited,
And everyone in the school will certainly be delighted!!

Halloween Witch Walk – Fri 28th Oct

The Green Schools Committee will hold a “Fancy Dress Friday” (non uniform day) on Friday 28th October. On this day children are invited to dress up coming to school. Weather permitting a short walk around the school grounds will take place for each class. In keeping with our Green Schools Recycling Aims, children are encouraged to make some part of the costumes from homemade/recyclable materials and not buy them. Some simple suggestions may include: • Old clothes     • Old costumes.     • Recyclable materials.     • Cardboard boxes.  Please assist and encourage your child to take part in what we hope will be an enjoyable experience for all.
