On January 23rd, every class in Rathmore N.S. got the opportunity to meet some very special dogs. Louise Griffin, one of our SNAs, brought her daughter’s companion dog in to meet the students. Louise also brought Mary and Eleanor with her. Mary and Eleanor have assistance dogs for their children who attend Saplings school.

Guide Dogs
Louise explained all about autism to each class and discussed the importance of companion/assistance dogs. Louise, Mary and Eleanor explained how these magnificent dogs help with the daily challenges parents and children with autism face.
The students met the 3 dogs, Erin, Lynx and Ralph and were thrilled to get the chance to pet them. However, they did learn the valuable lesson not to pet such a dog when it is out working. A great day was had by all and no doubt the dogs slept well that night.
