This would not have been possible without the help of the many parents who provided supervision of teams and support on the day. Big thank you to our athletics coach Ms. Malone who put in all the hard work in Valleymount today and to the class teachers for preparing them for their trials. It has been a fantastic week of sporting achievements for our school and we are very proud of all our pupils and staff who give up their time to promote sports/supervise and coach teams.
School Library
Our children love their weekly trips to our fantastic School Library and it really helps to encourage a love of reading among children. Special thanks to Terry Delaney and our School Library volunteers who give of their free time each week to provide this service. The popular Book Review competition which is open to pupils in all classes will be happening again this term. If you have some spare time and you would like to help out, please contact Martina in the school office and we can include you on the Library weekly rota.
Witch Walk
The Green Schools Committee will hold their annual “Witch Walk” (non-uniform day) on Friday 25th October 2019. On this day all children are invited to dress up in a Halloween Theme coming to school. Weather permitting, a short walk around the school grounds will take place for each class in their seasonal outfits.
In keeping with our Green Schools Recycling Aims, children are encouraged to make some part/all of their dress-up outfit from homemade/recyclable materials rather than buying a commercially produced costume and donate €1 on the day. Some simple suggestions may include old clothes, old costumes, recyclable materials and using cardboard boxes.
We encourage parents/guardians to assist your child to take part in what we hope will be an enjoyable and fun-filled experience for all. We know everyone will make a big effort and we look forward to seeing your costumes, so be creative!
This year, Rathmore N.S. will be working towards the next Green Schools flag ” Global Citizenship and the Marine Environment”. We would really like the whole school to get involved in helping us achieve this flag. We kindly ask if children could start bringing in plastic bottle tops (orange, blue, green, black, purple and red) to Ms Shaw and Ms Brady of the Green Schools Committee for our marine environment display.)
