We are delighted to share that from September, students at Rathmore NS will have the opportunity to take part in a 6-week gymnastics programme delivered by a qualified ‘Sports in Schools’ instructor. This programme combines gymnastics with Fundamental Movement Skills, helping children to build strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, confidence and the core skills needed to support participation in all sports. Over the six weeks, students will develop a range of skills from handstands and rolls to beam walks and more, using specialist equipment including parallel bars, beams, wedges, rings, springboards and other gymnastics resources. The inclusive programme will be tailored to meet the needs of our pupils and will provide a fun, active and engaging addition to our PE curriculum.
We are also delighted with the arrival of new PE equipment this year following a comprehensive inventory carried out by our Student Council. Their feedback helped us identify areas where new resources were needed, and our pupils are already enjoying using the new outdoor soccer goals, portable badminton sets, universal table tennis nets and sticky toss and catch ball games. These new resources will encourage us to ‘Get off our chair and get some air.’
